As part of our commitment to social responsibility and in support of children suffering from Thalassemia, Anurag NSS successfully organized a Blood Donation Camp on February 7, 2025.
Pre-Camp Arrangements
Two days before the camp, an official from the blood bank visited the campus to discuss the necessary arrangements with the Principal and NSS Officer. Following deliberations, a suitable venue was finalized to ensure the smooth execution of the event.
Day of the Camp
On the day of the blood donation drive, the NSS team arrived early to set up the venue. Arrangements included tents, donor tables, water facilities, fruits, juices, coconut water, ORS packets, saline bottles, BP machines, weight machines, and banners. Some modifications were made under the guidance of Dr. Raj Kumar, who accompanied the blood bank officials.
The donation program was formally initiated by the Principal and NSS Program Officer. First-year students were given the initial slots, and many enthusiastically participated. Some first-time donors, particularly female students, experienced mild symptoms such as fainting and nausea, which were promptly attended to by the medical team. Following this, students from various departments and diploma courses actively contributed to the noble cause. Faculty members, including the Principal and NSS Program Officer, also stepped forward to donate blood. Students who could not donate due to medical conditions supported their peers throughout the event.
Camp Highlights
- Total Donors: 123
- Support for Thalassemia Children: Dr. Raj Kumar highlighted that over 400 Thalassemia children undergo tests, treatment, and blood transfusions at Kamala Hospital and Research Centre. The hospital requires around 350 units of blood monthly, with a higher demand during the summer. Most patients come from underprivileged backgrounds and need personal care and support.
During the valedictory session, the Principal and NSS Officer assured the blood bank officials of continued support for this noble cause. The event concluded with a heartfelt felicitation of the guests and organizers.
Anurag NSS extends its gratitude to all donors, volunteers, and medical staff for making this initiative a success and reinforcing the spirit of service to humanity.
