An Awareness Program on ERADICATION OF DRUGS 

In order to inculcate the “drug eradication for societal welfare” motto into the student community the NSS unit had organised an awareness program on ERADICATION OF DRUGS in Anurag Engineering College. 

The Kodad division DSP Sreedhar Reddy, Kodad rural Circle Inspector Mrs.Rajitha Reddy and Ananthagiri Sub Inspector Mr.Naveen Kumar participated as  chief guest and guests to sensitize the students and to bring to the knowledge of students about the consequences on personal life, family entities, society and the nation due to consumption and propagation of drugs among students in the society.The program was incepted by the Rally of students along with the guests and chief guest within the campus premises where students gave slogans related to holistic eradication of drugs followed by the speeches. 

After the introduction of the dignitaries on the dais in the seminar hall, in-charge principal Dr. M.V  Siva Prasad sir advised the students to be away from the drugs and need to focus on their academics to settle well in their life. Sub inspector sir recalled the number of cases related to drug consumption and peddling in the past one year in the area under his purview and the number of students who ruined their lives due to drug addiction. The Circle Inspector madam elucidated about the actions on the drug addicts and peddlers. She also emphasized the government as well the police, excise and revenue departments measures to curb the same.  The DSP sir narrated few of his experiences of students lives convicted in the drug peddling cases where they were not able to get bail for over six months. He said the most vulnerable group and age to the drug addiction is the student group where they turn addicts inadvertently; the major propulsion at this age would be the bad  friends who drag the novice pals into this mess. Once a student gets entangled into this filthy chaos, it burns his/her personal life along with the family members. These addicts in their inebriated conditions do self-harm, harm others, indulge in anti-social activities, becoming a burden to the society and ruining their families. He stressed on the role of youth in building the nation, and their pivotal part to curb the drugs menace. He also assured secrecy and help to the students who help the departments in fighting the drugs and stressed on the de-addiction centres and their prominence role in helping as well guiding the addicts. Enthusiastic students have put forward their apprehensions which were clarified by the chief guest, and the program was concluded by the felicitation of the guests.
