Village: Ananthagiri
Venue: Government High School
Total Beneficiaries: 162
After planning meticulously under the guidance of experts and calculating the feedback of the previous health camps as well as garnering the extant health conditions of the villagers in the vicinity, NSS unit had come up with a plan to organize a free medical with diverse medical specializations. Based on the ease of transportation and easy accessibility, we had chosen Ananthagiri Village as the perfect area to convene the Camp and picked up government high school as the venue from the available options as it is feasible compared to others options in spite of its flaws.
Under the guidance of experts in the field of medicine, NSS unit had approached Aruna Multi Specialty Hospital in Kodad and Max Vision Eye Care Hospital in Khammam for the free medical camp who wholeheartedly agreed to the proposal and suggested few amendments related to camp which were readily accepted.
Following the approval of the school Head Master, Ananthagiri Village secretary, Mandal Panchayat Development Officer we also touched the Electricity Assistant Engineer for the temporary electricity provision as the school lacks electricity to the classrooms. Also invited the officials like RDO, MRO, Sub Inspector and senior doctor in the area Dr. Subba Rao sir for the camp.
One week prior to the date of camp, arrangements like medicines for free distribution based on doctors advice, kits for basic blood tests and stationary were procured. Two days prior to the camp mass canvassing was organized in five villages(Anathagiri, Bojjagudem thanda, Kanapuram, Gol thanda & Kotha Golthanda), partnered with media for free coverage of the program, volunteers were trained by the experts to get acquainted with the camp conditions.
As school class work cannot be distributed, arrangements in the school were done in the wee hours on the day of camp with well planned execution. Registrations were initiated by 9.30 am after the inauguration by the principal sir while the medicine distribution staff and the technicians for basic lab tests made their arrangements. Doctors rendering the services attended the camp after 10.00 am and had taken their designated positions and started to screen the registered patients. Time flew very fast as the influx of patients poured keeping the doctors, lab & medicine distribution staff and volunteers busy with the maintenance and dealing the intricacies arising.
By 3.00 pm, after the felicitation by NSS program officer and other staff, the doctors call it a day and left for lunch followed by the wrapping up of the camp by 3.30 pm. Also, the experts who assisted us throughout the camp were felicitated. A cumulative of 162 patients/beneficiaries availed the free medical services along with medicines.
Post camp garnered the feedback from a few patients who expressed their gratitude to Anurag Engineering College for this service and requested for the continuation of these sorts of programs in future for the benefit of the villagers.
