Workshop on IoT & Beyond
October 30, 2024

Objective

The primary aim of the Internet of Things (IoT) is to connect devices and objects to the internet, enabling them to collect, share, and communicate data remotely. This workshop introduced students to IoT technology, its applications, and its growing significance in the software industry.

Workshop Summary

Held on October 30th in the D Block Seminar Hall, the IoT Workshop was a part of Anurag Engineering College’s Institution Innovation Council (IIC) events. Led by Dr. Vinay Chowdary, the workshop ran from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM, engaging 98 students and 7 faculty members from the IT department.

The morning session began at 10:00 AM, where Dr. Chowdary introduced IoT concepts, various applications, and the skills needed to excel in this field. He covered how IoT is reshaping industries, with practical examples illustrating its impact. Students gained valuable insights into the growing importance of IoT in today’s tech landscape.

In the afternoon session from 1:40 PM to 4:00 PM, Dr. Chowdary guided students through a hands-on case study using Tinkercad, where they developed circuits and designed real-world IoT applications. This interactive segment provided practical experience, empowering students to understand the steps involved in creating IoT solutions.

Workshop Benefits

  • In-Depth Understanding: Students left with a solid understanding of IoT and its applications, gaining knowledge on how to develop IoT solutions.
  • Hands-On Learning: Practical experience with Tinkercad allowed students to design circuits and write programs for IoT applications.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Through IoT, students explored solutions to issues in home safety, healthcare, fleet management, and machine maintenance.
  • Career Pathways: Familiarity with IoT can lead to roles such as Embedded Engineer, IoT Architect, IoT Security Engineer, and Network Engineer.
  • Awareness of Regulations: The workshop also highlighted responsible and ethical IoT use, preparing students for professional standards in IoT.

This IoT workshop was a valuable addition to the AEC curriculum, equipping students with relevant skills for an evolving digital world.
